Revisiting Milton Santos: space-time relations in contemporary social processes

Abstract

The geographer and social scientist Milton Santos drew up analyses about the comprehension of geographic space, associating it with the temporal dimension. Such views in the history of geographic space tend to interfere in modernization, resultant of technological innovations from a preceding phase, are spreading out in western countries, causing asymmetrical patterns among them and, indeed, geopolitics based on inequalities within the ambit of international division of labor. This article aims to review some of Milton Santos theoretical works that analyze this process, considering it helps to understand the present-day world.
