Expansão espacial e modernização da agricultura brasileira no período 1970-75

Abstract:

This work is part of the research program concerning the evolution of the Brazilian agriculture, that has been carried on by the Divisão de Estudos Rurais, Departamento de Estudos Geográficos Fundação Instituto Brasileiro de Geografia e Estatística. Its purpose w:'ts to identify spaces characterized by different forms of development in agriculture and cattle raising, in order to set a frame of reference for the selection of "type-areas" to be examined through direct research. Based on the results of this work, two research programs were established on May, 1981: one of them in we3tern Bahia - an area where the expansion is due to the incorporation of spaces; the other in the westernmost part of Paraná, whose main characteristic is the association of the modernization and horizontal expansion aspects in agriculture.
