Resumo

Abstract:

In this paper the A. proposes to analyses the space role in the transmission of the inequalities of the educational opportunities through the spatial behavior of scholars. She thus seeks to give a geographical focusing to the study of a social institution - the education.

So, it's suggested that the educational opportunities must be approached and analyzed as making part of a complex social reality. The material and cultural conditions of education reflect the differences of social, economic and political status and always having strong spatial expression. If the society is marked by stratification of classes, the education will be organized to attend the different strata of population that, without further appeal, maintain this stratified system in functioning.

This work seeks yet to focalize the educational service in the model worked out by Santos for countries of strong income differences - the two circuits of economy – although this model refers, basically, to the industrial and commercial activities.

It was accomplished an empirical analysis, although in preliminary character, with a group of scholars who had to move in order to study in some schools of the town of Campos.

The inquiry has embraced groups of question related to the characteristics of consumers, to the move, to the information, to the scholar's perspectives and to their socioeconomic conditions.

Finally, the A. sticks out that the results obtained in the research may be recuperated in an analysis that aims to show the role of localization of certain services and of the spatial behavior in a society deeply marked by socioeconomic stratification.
