Como se distribui a iluminação pública do Rio de Janeiro

Resumo

In this article, Engineer Moacir M F Silva, who for some time was general inspector of

public illumination in the city of Rio de Janeiro describes how this illumination was distributed.

First, outlining the history of public illumination, he goes back to its origin in colonial times. He divides the history of public illumination in to three phases:

1) oil illumination from 1790 to 1854;

2) gas illumination from 1854 to 1933;

3) electric illumination from 1905 on
