Taubaté : estudo de geografia urbana

In this monograph, which is the result from researchs undertaked by emerited professors NICE LECOCQ MÜLLER shows us Tautaté, since the beginning of its localization until the actuality.

Detaching in the present work the richness of details, which the author said, relating the geographical situation, geology and topography to the importance political-economic of that which is denominated "Bacia de Taubaté". Describing the utilization of the urban space she focalizes the landscape contrasts that results of expansion of the own city, the indications of evolution, cycles through which it passing, since the foundation of the village in XIV Century. In relation to the economic situation of the region, NICE LECOCQ MÜLLER, describes the agricultural evolutive cycle, since the beginning to the apogee, at its fall by absence of human arms to keep them, and their consequent substitution by the industry, now the support of the Taubaté's economy.

The description of the streets and places, its houses, the commerce, the industries. the transports, give us a perfect notion of the physic feature of the city, and when she refers to the urban space utilization, makes observations to the desired rational utilization of hills in which they will make future divisions. In the next chapter that the author related the social and cultural life of the city, she says about the spacial distribution of the free professions, the class associations, the public services, the school departments, the amiusing houses, and the divulgation systems, and when she focalizes the urban problems, according of the Public Services she give us the idea of the constant growing of demographic phenomenon of regions in frank progress.

After the author relates about the divulgation of the city by the journal and radio, she speaks of the limitation of the first by the concurrence that make the journals of the capital and large penetration of the second that take vast land of the paulista territory. Finishing. NICE LECOCQ MÜLLER, alluding the function of Taubaté like a regional capital, that corresponds at its geographical position in middle of the Paraíba valley, in paulista territory.
