A Geografia humanista anglo-saxônica : de suas origens aos anos 90

Este trabalho acompanha a trajetória da geografia humanista nos países ·anglo-saxônicos, desde o aparecimento das primeiras ideias humanistas, nos anos 50, até os dias de hoje.

São analisados artigos de pioneiros como Sauer, Wright, Lowenthal e Tuan, e o livro esquecido de Dardel.

Acompanha-se o interesse pela percepção ambiental e pela imaginação geográfica, que uniu, no início dos anos 60, os protocomportamentalistas e os proto-humanistas.

Detivemo-nos na tentativa de individualização de um campo humanista, nos anos 70, com a escolha de uma base fenomenológico-existencialista.

Comentamos a abordagem do mundo cotidiano e a eleição de lugar como conceito privilegiado que levaria a geografia humanista a ser reconhecida pela mídia em meados da década de 70.

Analisamos as críticas e os dilemas por que passou esta corrente durante os anos 80, bem como sua relação com a geografia social, cultural e marxista.

Em suma, é na análise do processo de surgimento, afirmação, consolidação, reconhecimento e difusão da geografia humanista, assim como na avaliação de sua contribuição com novas perspectivas epistemológicas e ontológicas para a geografia contemporânea, a que se dedicam as páginas desse artigo.

- Abstract:

This work tries to follow the trajectory of the humanistic geography in the Anglo-saxons countries, from the appearance of the first humanistic ideas in the fifties to the present days.

The articles by pioneers as Sauer, Wright, Tuan and Lowenthal are analyzed in detail, and the forgotten book by Dardel.

We follow the interest in the environmental perception and in the geographical imagination that joined in the early sixties the proto-behaviouralists and the proto-humanists.

We try to set the individualization of a humanistic field in the seventies, with the choice of a phenomenological- existentialist basis.

We comment on the approach of the everyday world and the election of place as a privileged concept which would take the humanistic geography to become acknowledged in the middle seventies.

We analyze the critiques and the dilemmas by which passed this trend during the eighties, as well as their relations with the social, cultural and marxists geographers.

In summary, this word dedicates its pages to the analysis of the process of the appearance, statement, consolidation, acknowledgment and expansion of the humanistic geography, as well as in the evaluation of its contribution with new epistemological and ontological perspectives for the contemporary geography.
