Estudo geomorfológico da área de Barra de São João e Morro de São João

Resumo

The present paper aims a geomorphological study of Barra de São João and Morro de São João area, located in the shore of Rio de Janeiro State, having in view a geomorphological re-covering of the referred State and initiating also a standardization of the geomorphological symbology,

The geomorphological sheet w"s executed based on topographic charts of the area, in the scale of I :50,000 and in aerials photographs in the approximately scale of 1:30,000. In order to permit its publication the geomorphological sheet was afterwards reduced.

As a work method, besides the photo interpretation, it was realized a field research accordingly with the office work. It was also examined in the field the necessary material to elaborate an outline of the geomorphological sheet of the area, and connected samples to the laboratory work.

To prepare the explanatory note of the geomorphological sheet the studied area was divided in to four unities:

1.º) The marine alluvial plains - predominance of the sandbanks, constituted of material predominantly sandy.

2.º) Fluvial alluvial plains relating to the three principals plains of area, specially of anuvial material.

3.º) Little crystalline hills - constitutes the region of crushed crystallined lands - embracing a quite devastated area.

4.º) Morro de São João - round hill with about 300m, formed by nephelitic sandstone that emerges from the fluvial marine anuvial plains.
