O Sistema viário da aglomeração paulistana : apreciação geográfica da situação atual

Resumo

This paper deals with the street-system of the São Paulo metropolis, considering the city itself and seven neighboring municipalities, which together form the inner, more densely urbanized part of the Metropolitan Area. The author analyses the following aspects: the chaotic character of the street system in the whole; the various patterns assumed by the local street arrangements; the excessive radial pattern assumed by the arterial-way system and the correlated circulation problems; the characteristics of the arterial ways related to their origins; the types of arterial ways in accordance with their technical aspects; the relation between the street system and urban site; the problems of railroad crossing. Finally the author considers specifically the city-center and the suburban fringe, two areas with particular aspects and problems.
