Interpretação geográfica dos fenômenos hidrológicos na Bacia do Alto e Médio Rio Preto

Resumo

The object of this work, which consists in a geographical interpretation of hydrological phenomena, suggested its division into two stages: the first, basic, an analysis of the natural setting and the influence of human settlement upon it, and arising therefrom the second stage, an analysis strictly speaking of the hydrological phenomena on the basis of data collected at 25 pluviometric stations and 1 (one) fluviometric station.

            Thus the first topic deals with the analysis of the regional morphology, its origin and evolution, soil formation, plant cover, human settlement and its influence on these physical factors, bearing in mind the integration of all such factors as a background for the second stage of the work.

            This preparatory survey includes a brief study of the climate, followed by an analysis of the river regime, a subject that belongs to the second stage, where amongst other things, the investigation covers the relationship between discharge and precipitation, the behavior of the water table, the outflow coefficient, major floods and low water levels. This analysis is accompanied by graphs which are at the same time the result of the compilation of hydrological data and another element for the analysis of hydrological phenomena.

            In the conclusion, proof is given of the correlationship that can be established at any moment between the regime, the spates, the low waters, in a general way, and more specifically the outflow coefficient and low water curves (elements for the analysis of those more general data), and the soils, vegetation and particular aspects of the relief, these last features· being linked to the part that man plays in altering the physical landscape.
